Top 6

Sometimes you just want to pick up and play a quick MMORPG, without having to download tons of data. Whether you don’t have the 30 gigs available for World of Warcraft, or you’re just not that hardcore anymore, there is a solution to this problem! drumroll please… enter:

Browser MMORPG games!

Low demanding in performance, quick to launch and easy to get into – but sometimes hard to put down. In the past, these games were mostly polished pieces of sh*t. But anyone knows, the more you polish a turd, it remains a turd – believe me, I’ve tried.

However, lately there has been more and more great browser games, more specifically, browser MMORPGs! They look graphically impressive, have awesome gameplay, and mostly a great community to back it up. So, are you ready to discover the top 6 MMORPG browser games anno 2015?

6. Dino Stormdino storm mmorpg browser game

Call this a false start, because there are quite a few better browser MMORPG games out there, but I mean…

IT’S DINOSAURS, COWBOYS AND LASER GUNS, YEEEHAAA

The good? Great graphics, raise dinosaurs that actually evolve – kind of like an upgraded tamagotchi, easy to pick up and play and cool PVP combat.

The bad? The UI could use some work, there’s no real depth to the game, and it’s free but a bit pay to win

Conclusion: Snappy gameplay and a crazy theme land this game at number 6. Although it lacks end-game depth we will see in other titles, give this one a try and you’ll be good for a fair couple of hours. Play the game for free here.

OS: XP, Vista, Windows 7

Memory Ram: 1 GB

5. Runescape

Runescape Browser MMORPG

Runescape, Runescape, Runescape… Is there anything left to say about this game that hasn’t been said before? In 2007, at its peak, this browser MMORPG would have taken the number one spot without a doubt. Unfortunately for RS, this is 2015.

The game has received a well deserved graphical facelift, and gameplay elements have been changed. This has caused the community to splinter up into two groups: the old & new schoolers.

Runescape remains an incredibly addicting game, although some mechanics have become quite outdated. Download and play for free, and if you’re hooked, you can always get the subscription model they offer!

– System requirements –
OS: XP, Vista, Windows 7
Processor: 2.33GHz or faster x86-compatible
Memory Ram: 512 MB

4. Adventure Quest Worlds

adventure quest

AQ Worlds is a 2D sidescrolling browser MMORPG. Choose from 4 different classes, each with their own unique skillset. The gameplay is simple, but slick. Click to move around, and double click to engage a target. Music and sound effects also are up to par.

What sets this free MMORPG apart from the rest for me, is it’s subtle humor and a nice sense of progression. Beware, there’s a lot of content for which you have to pay, but this shouldn’t hinder a casual player.

OS: XP, Vista, Windows 7
Processor: 1.0 GHz or faster x86-compatible
Memory Ram: 256 MB

3. Drakensang Online

Drakensang is a hack and slash browser MMORPG. Play as a melee focused dragonknight, ranged spellweaver or a ranger who can easily switch between either style.

Drakensang’s design is very crisp, same goes for its UI. Combat plays much like Torchlight, it’s action packed and you can assign skills to mouse buttons aswel.

The meat of the game is in the levelling experience, as the developers focused less on the end-game.

It’s free to play, and I suggest you give it a whirl right here. Of course, it’s possible to pay for certain privileges, but the pay to win-level is mediocre in this one.

– System requirements –
OS: XP, Vista, Windows 7
Processor: 1.0 GHz or faster x86-compatible
Memory Ram: 256 MB

2. Arcane Legends

arcane legends MMORPG browser game

Arcane legends is a hack and slash co-operative browser MMORPG. Intriguing but simple combat drags any player straight into the game. The graphics are low requiring, great for some low spec rigs out there, but the look great nonetheless. The cartoony vibe gives Arcane Legends its own unique style.

The online aspect is well established, giving the well-known chat bars, access to make a party, and creating a friends list.

This game can be played on phones, tablets, and in your browser. It’s completely free to get started!

– System requirements –
OS: XP, Vista, Windows 7
Processor: 1.0 GHz or faster x86-compatible
Memory Ram: 512 GB
